Rich Mathis, C.E.C, PCII

     A native of Florida, Rich Mathis has been in the food service industry for nearly 30 years. He began his culinary career in Orlando Chef Rich Mathis - Executive Chefwith Walt Disney World in 1987. He soon realized that cooking was going to be his future as he enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Mid-Florida Technical Institute graduating with a certificate in Culinary Arts and Pastry. After working with Disney for several years and a few years in Tallahassee, he decided that a degree in Culinary Arts was the next step so he packed his bags and moved to New York to enroll in The Culinary Institute of America’s Culinary Arts program. While enrolled, he completed an internship with the Waldorf ~ Astoria in Manhattan and graduated A.O.S. with honors in 1995. From there he worked with the Grand Hyatt for several years as the Banquet Chef. He also worked as Roundsman at the 4 star New York Times fine dining restaurant “River Cafe”. Moving to Tampa in 1999 to start a family he found himself at Avila Golf & Country Club as Executive Chef and Saddlebrook resort as Chef Garde Manger. In 2007, he joined the Delaware North Companies team where he worked as Executive Chef for the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Tampa Bay Times Forum until 2015. His main role at the Forum was the management of the Foodservice operation, but also includes Ice Carving.  Currently Rich is the Corporate Executive Chef for Manitowoc Foodservice.

     Chef Mathis has achieved several goals since being in Florida. These include Pro Chef II Certification from The Culinary Institute of America in 2011 and Certified Executive Chef certification from The American Culinary Federation in 2012 and learning to sculpt ice and fruit carving.
